Fostering
Fostering is a wonderful way to volunteer and support cats in your community. We have a few different types of foster placements.
- Foster a cat until they find an adoptive home
- Provide palliative care for a cat during their last months/years
- Temporarily foster a cat until they can be reunited with their guardian
Requirements:
- Spare room for foster cat to be kept separate from other pets
- Own transportation for vet appointments and emergencies
- Time commitment is on average 6-12 months
- Ability to go to one of our vet clinics in Hamilton, Oakville, KW & London
Some questions on the application may not be applicable for fostering (for example how much you plan to spend on your foster cat – as we provide everything they need). Answer the questions to the best of your abilities and put N/A if the question does not apply.
The foster application is the same as the adoption application because it’s important to our organization that our foster homes are just as good a fit as our adoptive homes. This also has the added bonus, that if you as a foster home are considering adopting your foster cat (other than serious incompatibility), you are already approved to adopt!
Please note we do accept foster homes who cannot adopt due to financial limitations. Fostering is a wonderful way to have a pet in your life without the financial responsibility. We are happy to discuss this with you further.
Approved foster applicants provide us with information about what kind of placements they would and would not feel comfortable with. We are then able to try to match you with the best fit for your home environment.
