How it all started
Super Senior Cat Sanctuary became a program under the nonprofit umbrella of Second Hope Circle in 2020. Two elderly cats, Sam and Marvin, were posted on Kijiji as needing immediate rehoming or else they would be euthanized. We picked the cats up and found a placement for a third younger cat (who was lost inside the house and not found for weeks). Sam and Marvin were adopted a few months later by a vet tech. The pair are pictured here.
Our story
We continued to take in and adopt our cats and have grown in the last 4 years. We focus on super senior cats at risk of being euthanized. A “super senior” is a cat who is 15 years or older. We have been working on growing our services, foster homes and monthly donor base so we can help more cats.
Our Now
We plan to become a registered charity separate from our umbrella organization so that we can offer tax receipts and qualify for more grants and supports. We are also increasing the educational side of the rescue with information about caring for seniors and planning for them should a pet guardian no longer be able to care for them.
