Temporary Foster Care

Pets are family. Did you know that over 50% of people with pets will delay getting support/services because they don’t want to be separated from them? Most shelters and hospitals in Ontario do not allow pets and this creates a huge barrier for people seeking help. There are very few temporary foster care programs in Ontario.

We provide temporary foster care for super senior cats when their people are going through a precarious situation. This could include hospitalization, housing insecurity, domestic violence and more. Once the pet’s guardian has stability again, they are reunited with their pets.

This program depends on having available foster homes. Basic veterinary care is provided and additional vet care and testing if medical issues arise.

We only share images when guardian’s have given permission. Pet’s names have been changed for privacy.

Wyatt and Waylon

We were asked if we could take in two cats for temporary foster care. Names have been changed for privacy but we’re calling them Wyatt and Waylon. They are brothers and are 18 years old. They will stay in our care until their person is able to find stable pet friendly housing.

Temporary foster care programs are in huge demand but there are very few programs out there. Many local shelters will offer temporary boarding but it’s rarely more than 3-14 days. Most people need 3-8 months to find appropriate housing currently.
